Adinkra, explained
Adinkra symbols come from the Akan people of Ghana. Each one is a proverb you can see, and now one you can wear.

Akan day names
In Akan tradition, the day you were born gives you a name. Kofi is a Friday boy. Ama is a Saturday girl. Pick your birthday and meet yours.
The name
It comes from the Twi word akonwa: stool, seat, throne. In Asante culture the Golden Stool holds the soul of a nation, and every family's stool holds its story.
We started Akonua for the diaspora, and for everyone the Year of Return touched. These are shirts that start conversations, carry proverbs, and remind you that you have a seat at the table. You always did.

Turn it inside out, wash cold, and tumble dry low or hang dry. Don't iron directly on the print. Treat it well and the gold stays bright.
